THE ART MARKET IS MORE MORAL THAN THE STOCK MARKET
PRESS REVIEW
Jerry Saltz | THE ART NEWSPAPER | Feb 24, 2009
Introduction by Jason Edward Kaufman: With Wall Street in self-inflicted ruin it might seem ridiculous to argue that the art market is less ethical than the stock market.
Yet that was the position taken last month by art dealers Richard Feigen, Michael Hue-Williams and collector Adam Lindemann in a debate sponsored by the Rosenkranz Foundation at Rockefeller University, New York. They faced artist Chuck Close, critic Jerry Saltz, and auctioneer Amy Cappellazzo, who defended the integrity of the salesroom and the art world in general. [+] READ MORE
JIMMIE DURHAM, THE DEEP VOICE OF THE OTHER AMERICA
Time resumed its flight with the blue-eyed Cherokee remains impassive to the foreign, as enigmatic as his sculptures, which combine materials, found objects and rubbish which the Musée d’art moderne de la Ville de Paris offers a retrospective confusing for lovers of Dufy, Bonnard and Chirico. Beautiful tanned face as novelistic portraits of American photographer Edward S. Curtis (1868-1952), Jimmie Durham awaits the stranger with the turning of a phrase, like a hunter watching clichés about Indians and other ideas about art. [+] READ ARTICLE IN ENGLISH
